Gators post strong finish at ECAC Championships in huge field

Williamstown, MA----The Sage College's men's cross country competed on Saturday at the 2011 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Championships, hosted by Williams College at Mt. Greylock High School. The host Ephs of Williams College took home the men's championship crown with a score of 44 as they had six runners finish in the Top 25 at the event. Sage took home 35th place in a field of 44 men's teams in an 8 k race that boasted 300 individual men's runners.

Leading the way for the Gators was rookie Sean Alvarado (Shokan, NY/Onteora) in 158th place in 30:05.01, while freshman Jesus Vaquez-Lopez (Latham, NY/Shaker) was next in 171st in 30:15.39.

Next to cross the finish line for the Gators was junior Cory Alvarado (Shokan, NY/Onteora) picked up 183rd place in 30:34.25. Junior Mesfin Solomon (Albany, NY/Albany) posted a time of 31:30.76 and finished in 226th place, while freshman Collin Greenough (Southwick, MA/Southwick-Tolland) took 236th place 31:57.46.

Also in the race for Sage was sophomore Jason Applegate (Schenectady, NY/Mohanasen) as he had a time of 33:48.97 and took home 265th place. Rookie Chris Darrow (Shokan, NY/Onteora) posted a time of 36:33.53 and took home 279th place to round out Sage's competitors on the day.

Sage returns to action on November 12 when they will compete at the 2011 NCAA Division III Atlantic Regionals at St. Lawrence University (Canton, NY).
