Trio of Sage Women's Soccer Players Honored by Empire 8

Rochester, NY- The Sage Colleges' women's soccer team had a trio of performers named to the 2017 Empire 8 Women's Soccer All-Star Team with the release of the post-season honors on Thursday.  A first-year member of the Empire 8 conference, Sage had two players named to the all-conference teams, while another was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.


Sage's junior forward Samantha Trimblett (Monroe, NY/Monroe Woodbury) was named to the All-Conference Second Team at forward, while junior midfielder Dominique Puglisi (Schenectady, NY/Scotia Glenville) was named to the Honorable Mention Team at midfielder.  Sage's junior goalie Emma Augustine (Wawarsing, NY/Ellenville) was honored with a selection to the All-Sportsmanship Team.

In addition to the yearly awards and all-conference teams, one member of each team was named that institution's representative on the 2017 Women's Soccer Sportswoman of the Year Team.  Empire 8 emphasizes that "Competing with Honor and Integrity" is an essential component of a student-athlete's experience in conjunction with an institution's educational mission. These honorees have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits as outstanding sportswomen.

Augustine, a first-year starter in goal for the Gators posted a 6-8-1 mark in net with a 1.73 goals against average. She helped Sage collect four shutouts on the 2017 season as the team went 6-9-1 overall. She wraps her second season with the Gators having elevated her career resume to include a 1.53 career goals against average, which ranks fourth on the career goalie record book at Sage.

Trimblett led Sage in scoring this season with her nine goals and 21 points. She added two game-winning goals as well in 2017. With the close of her junior season at Sage, she has 92 career points on 36 goals and 20 assists. She is third all-time in career goals, while standing second in assists and third in career points and is poised to become the third Sage women's soccer player to boast 100 or more career points.

Puglisi, a first-year player at Sage finished the season as the team's second leading scorer with 11 points. She added five assists which led the team and played in 13 games this fall.
