Indianapolis, IN –With the release of the final NCAA Division III women's volleyball statistics for the 2016 season, Sage's team and four of its members were among the national leaders. Sage, which finished the season with a record of 17-18 and was a semifinalist in the 2016 Skyline Conference Women's Volleyball Tournament after producing an 8-3 mark in Skyline play this past fall under the guidance of veteran head coach Sandy Augstein-Collins.
As a team, Sage ranked nationally in 15 different categories. The Gators were ranked 31st nationally with 277 team service aces, while also ranking 93rd nationally in aces per set average (2.2) as well as No. 125 in team digs (1,861).
Sage's senior setter Rachel Liebig (Hartford, NY/Hartford), senior outside hitter Sara Campolieta (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley), junior defensive specialist Missy Schneiderman (Middletown, NY/Minisink Valley), and graduate performer, Katy Rimawi (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) were all ranked for their efforts on the court in 2016.
Liebig, who was 2015 and 2016 Skyline Conference All-Star First Team pick, finished the year with her team-leading 957 setting assists, which ranks sixth best in school single-season records. On her career, she finished as the No. 2 all-time setting assist leader with her 3,332 setting assists, while also adding 203 aces, which stands fourth highest as well. She also connected for 613 digs in her 131 matches played at Sage. Liebig finished the season ranked 87th in total assists (957), while standing 180th in assists per set average (7.6). She was also honored in 2016 as the Skyline Conference Women's Volleyball Sportsmanship Award recipient.
Sage's libero Schneiderman earned Skyline All-Star honors for her play this season. Over the course of the 2016 campaign, she garnered her 1,000th career dig, while adding a team-best 436 digs on the year. She added 3.49 digs per set, while playing in 125 sets with 41 aces and 47.0 points. She has now amassed 1,041 career digs, which ranks No. 14 in the program's career record book. She also now boasts 105 career aces, which is 18th best. Schneiderman is also among the current NCAA Division III leaders as she is ranked No. 192 in total digs. She was nationally ranked (No. 208) with her 436 total digs.
Campolieta closes her stellar career having produced her best numbers as a senior. She led the Gators with her 303 kills and 368.5 points, while contributing 408 digs and 25 total blocks. She finishes her career with 558 kills (No. 13), while adding 933 digs (No. 18) with 122 aces (No. 13) in the program's record book. Her 2016 numbers placed her 116th in Division III with her 52 aces, while her 993 total attacks ranked 150th in the country.
Rimawi finished the 2016 season with her personal-best numbers having racked up 86 kills with 46 aces and 282 digs. She amassed 92 career aces, 210 kills, and 572 digs in her time on the volleyball court. She ranked 220nd nationally with her 46 aces on the year.
