Bard top Sage in 5 sets
Annandale on Hudson, NY---- The Sage Colleges men's volleyball team travelled to Bard College on Tuesday night for a Skyline Conference match. For the second time this season, the contest would go five sets and Bard came out with the 3-2 win, (23-25, 25-10, 23-25, 25-15, 15-5).
Bard, the 2010 Skyline Conference Champions, improves to 16-10 overall and 7-1 in the league, while the Gators fall to 11-9 overall and 4-2 in the league. The Raptors stand in first place in the league and the loss sees Sage drop to third place in the standings as the top four earn a spot in the upcoming conference championships.
Junior Spencer Hilland (Slingerlands, NY/Bethlehem Central), this week's Skyline Conference Player of the Week, added 17 kills with nine digs for Sage on the night. Sophomore setter Kyle Ray (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) connected for 42 setting assists, while rookie libero Matt Bynon (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills) added 15 digs in the contest.
Sage returns to action on March 18 hosting a Skyline Conference tri-match. Action commences at 6 p.m. in the Kahl Center with Bard facing Purchase College and Sage will face Purchase at 8 p.m.
