Sage men take home 2nd place at Manhattanville Meet
Purchase, NY–Sage's men's cross country team competed on Saturday at the Manhattanville College Valiant Invitational. The six-team meet 5 K race was won by Roberts Wesleyan University with a score of 22, while the Gators picked up a second place finish with a score of 57. The second place finish marks the second time in the young program's history the Gators have achieved such a feat.

Winning the individual 5 K race was Roberts Welseyan's Matthew Hussey as he posted a winning time of 17:08 for the day. Sage was led by sophomore Jesus Vaquez-Lopez (Latham, NY/Shaker) as he picked up fifth place in 17:26. Next for the Gators was rookie Juan Reyes-Alvarez (Latham, NY/Shaker) in 7th in 17:31. Sophomore Sean Alvarado (Shokan, NY/Onteora) took home 14th place for the Gators in 18:17, just ahead of his brother, senior Cory Alvarado (Shokan, NY/Onteora) who finished in 15th in 18:35.
Junior Bryan Kelly (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley Central) took 16th in 18:42, while sophomore Richard Parker (Scotia, NY/Burnt Hills Ballston Lake) placed 34th in 22:27. Junior Anthony Crawford (Bronx, NY/Frederick Douglass Academy) netted a time of 23:11 to finish in 35th for Sage.
The Gators return to action on September 22 competing at Elms College in the Trailblazer Invitational.
