Sage women make it three wins in a row with sweep of Bard, 61-42

Albany, NY--- The Sage College women's basketball team hosted Bard College on Thursday night in the Kahl Campus Center in a Skyline Conference game. Sage triumphed 61-42 to improve to 7-8 overall and 5-5 in the Skyline Conference. Bard falls to 2-12 overall and 1-9 in the league. The Gators have now won three straight games, while the Raptors have lost nine in a row.
Sage led 32-14 at the break as junior Jessica Byerwalters (Coeymans Hollow, NY/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) added eight points with three assists and two steals in the first stanza of play. Sage held Bard to just 20.7% from the floor in the first half (6-29) while both teams had 23 first-half rebounds. Byerwalters led Sage with 12 points, while sophomore Kelsey Frament (Waterford, NY/Catholic Central) added 12 points. Rookie forward Kara Hackett (Peru, NY/Peru Central) connected on 10 rebounds with two blocks.
Bard's junior forward Latiqua Williams (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore) paced the Raptors a she added 10 first half rebounds on her way to 23 for the game. She added a double-double for Bard as she added 18 points.
Sage held Bard scoreless from three-point range (0-5) for the game and shot a blistering 92.9% from the line (13-14), while holding Bard to just 30.0% from the line (6-20).
Sage returns to action on Saturday, January 23 travelling to Farmingdale State College for a Skyline Conference game at 1 p.m., while Bard College also travels to Old Westbury on Saturday for a 2 p.m. conference game.
