Latham, NY - The Sage Colleges women's soccer team picked up their first conference win of the season against Yeshiva University, defeating the Macabees eight to zero.
The Gators controlled the ball most of the game as they had 26 shots on goal compared to Yeshiva's one shot. Freshman Rebecca Marszalek (Adams, MA) found the back of the net four times in the contest, tying a school record for goals in a game. Marszalek scored both the first and second goals of the game, in the fifteenth minute, only twenty seconds apart from one another, Amanda Potter (Schenectady, NY) scored the third goal of the game twenty-one minutes into the game. Marszalek scored again at the 31:52 mark, while Nicole Killeen (Petersburg, NY) and Ashley Allain (Stillwater, NY) rounded out the scoring for the first half with a goal a piece.
Sage only scored twice in the second half, but played under control and attacked efficiently. Marszalek scored the seventh goal for the Gators at 61:47 and sophomore Korin Hollenbeck (Hudson, NY) scored the final goal of the day at 86:45.
The Gators return to action Saturday, September 20th as they travel to SUNY Potsdam for a non-conference contest at 1pm.
