Russell Sage College Athletics announced the hiring of Matt Marsh (East Setauket, N.Y.) as its new Head Baseball Coach in August of 2025.

Marsh came to the Capital District from Hendrix College, located in Conway, Arkansas. He served as the assistant coach and the recruiting coordinator for the Warriors for two seasons, guiding hitters, baserunners and infielders, while running the offense and being heavily involved in recruiting efforts.

“I am incredibly excited to be able to serve the Russell Sage Baseball Program as Head Baseball Coach,” said Marsh at the time of his appointment. “I am grateful to be a part of a program that has come so far so quickly and be back in the northeast where so many of my ties are in baseball, recruiting and family. I look forward to continuing to build the program and honoring the great work of Coach Pontari. There are so many people that I am thankful for in guiding me through every step of my career. I want to thank Jim Lyons, RSC Director of Athletics for this opportunity! I look forward to growing our student-athletes as students, baseball players and people and working alongside the great academics at Russell Sage to prepare our student-athletes to be successful in their careers, communities and families. Thank you! Go Gators!”

"After a national search, we are excited to be welcoming Matt Marsh to the Swamp as the second baseball coach in Russell Sage history," added Lyons. "Matt was impressive at all levels of the interview process, and his recruiting philosophy immediately resonated with our staff. Gator Baseball is in excellent hands, and I look forward to our program reaching even greater heights with Matt as its next leader."
