Bio

At Sage:

A returning leader and a three-time team captain, Bailey Cecchi is looking to make his impact on the Gators a lasting one as a senior. He will serve as a team tri-captain for the 2018 team.

As a junior co-captain, he was honored as the Gator of the Year in 2017 as the team’s MVP. He earned Skyline Conference All-Star Second Team honors for his second straight season.

In 2017, Cecchi led the nation in single-match hitting percentage on 10-14 attempts against Southern Vermont (.909). He totaled three double-doubles against Arcadia (15 kills, 12 digs), Purchase (13 kills, 11 digs) and St. Joseph's - Long Island (11 kills, 11 digs). The outside hitter averaged 3.40 points, 2.98 kills, 1.50 digs, 0.28 aces and 0.24 blocks per set. Cecchi also had an impressive .946 reception percentage on 464 attempts. The junior scored his 1,000th career point two weeks after Ryan Guyton to become the fourth player in school history to hit the milestone.

In the Sage career record book, one-time Skyline Player of the Week currently ranks 3rd in kills (851), 3rd in aces/set (0.32), 4th in aces (95), 4th in points (1,001), 5th in block solos (31), 6th in points/set (3.36) 6th in digs (450) and 10th in total blocks (79).

He was a member of the 2016 team that made it to the Skyline Championship semi-finals and was named to the 2016 Skyline Second Team as an outside hitter.

He played in 115 sets over 35 matches as a sophomore. He recorded 2.95 kills/set, 0.19 assists/set, 0.43 aces/set, 3.53 points/set, 1.43 digs/set and 0.26 blocks/set while totaling 339 kills, .188 hitting percentage, 22 assists, 49 aces, 406.5 points, 164 digs, and 30 blocks. The outside hitter was second on the team in kills, kills/set, aces, aces/set, points and points/set, and third in digs, digs/set and solo blocks (seven).

As a sophomore, his best performance came against Daniel Webster in a 3-2 loss. He scored a career-best 25.5 points on 23 kills, two blocks and an ace with eight digs. Cecchi knotted a career-high seven aces twice against Lehman (3-0 W). His best defensive effort was against NJCU in a 3-2 loss (nine digs, five blocks).

In 2016, as a sophomore added his name in the single-season Sage record book in aces (3rd, 49), aces/set (4th, 0.43), kills (5th, 339), points (5th, 406.5), points/set (9th, 3.53) and kills/set (9th, 2.95)

Cecchi put his name in the Sage single-match record book in aces/three-set aces (3rd, 7 vs Lehman), four-set aces (3rd, five vs Newbury), kills/five-set kills (5th, 23 vs Daniel Webster) and points/five-set points (7th, 25.5 vs Daniel Webster). He was named both the Skyline Rookie of the Week and the ECAC Corvais Division III South Rookie of the Week in 2015. The freshman played in 88 sets over 27 matches and added 2.64 kills/set, 0.32 assists/set, 0.23 aces/set, 3.12 points/set, 1.65 digs/set and 0.30 blocks/set while totaling 232 kills, .140 hitting percentage, 28 assists, 20 aces. 274.5 points, 145 digs, and 26 blocks. He was first on the team in kills, kills/set and solo blocks (19), points and points/set, and second in assists, assists/set, aces, aces/set, digs and digs/set.

The outside hitter knotted two double-doubles in a 3-1 win over Yeshiva (12 kills, 10 digs) and a 3-0 win over Purchase (11 kills, 10 digs). His strongest scoring performance his first season at Sage was in a 3-0 win over Brooklyn. He added a season-best 18.0 points on 17 kills and an ace with four digs. He tied his season-high four aces in a 3-0 win over Brooklyn. His best defensive effort was against Keuka in a 3-2 loss (seven digs, five blocks).  That same season, he finished third in single-season solo blocks with 19.

Cecchi put his name in the Sage single-match record book in solo blocks (3rd, four at Keuka), three-set kills (8th, 17 vs Brooklyn) and kills (9th, .480 at SUNY-Polytechnic).

He is majoring in business.

High School:

A graduate of Agawam High School, Cecchi was a three-sport athlete in volleyball, soccer and skiing. After guiding his volleyball team to numerous titles, he was named the Best Overall Player at the 2014 State Division I Tournament. Cecchi added three Western Massachusetts Championship titles to his resume as well as two appearances in the Massachusetts State finals, while guiding the 2013 team to the Massachusetts State Championship.

In skiing, he was part of the three-time division championship team (2011, 2012, and 2013).
