Kristen Beikirch

Bio

Kristen Beikirch had a banner start to her collegiate career as she garnered numerous honors and acclaim for her outstanding play in 2012. By year’s end she was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Metro NY-NJ  Rookie of the Year after also earning the same honor from the Skyline Conference.

Beikirch became the first Gator to be named Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year and the ECAC distinction to her resume. The second baseman made an instant impact at Sage by setting the single-season hits record at the school with 62.  She also led the team in batting average (.434).  Beikirch played in all 46 games and scored 39 runs. She drove in 31 runs, while adding a .622 slugging percentage. She also led the Gators with her 16-19 effort on stolen bases. She hit successfully in 40 of Sage's 46 games this past season and tied together a 19-game hit streak mid-season as well as 21 games with a multiple-hit effort at the plate. She was also placed on the Skyline Conference All-Star First Team at second base.

She capped her second season with another long list of accomplishments that included earning 2013 Skyline Conference Softball Player of the Year honors and a selection to the 2013 CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-America Third Team.  She was named the 2012-2013 Sage Female Athlete of the Year.

She finished her sophomore year with another record-setting pace and ranked nationally in six different categories. She ranked No. 43 in runs scored per game (1.12), while ranking 72nd in batting average (0.444). She also ranked in slugging percentage (0.688, No. 116) as well as home runs (6, No. 166), triples (3, No. 158) and on-base percentage (0.464, No. 250).

She not only leads Sage in batting average, but the entire conference in batting with her blistering .444 and broke her own record from a year ago as she connected for 64 hits this season, two more than last year's 62 hits. She also added a team-leading 11 doubles, three triples, and six home runs. She had a .688 slugging percentage that matched her impressive .464 on-base percentage.  Beikirch had 17 multiple-hit games on the season, while starting all 41 games for the Gators.

Beikirch is already making her own run for several of Sage's career marks in just two seasons on the softball diamond. She already has 126 career hits in 87 games played and started, while carrying a .439 career batting average and 12 home runs, while ranking 5th in career hits, 5th in career home runs and third in runs scored.

A National Honor Society student at Brockport High School, she earned four letters in softball and was a two-time first team all-county pick as a junior and senior. She also earned All-Greater Rochester Honorable Mention honors.

A biology and pre-medicine major at Sage, she was named to the Skyline Conference Scholar-Athlete Team twice and had also earned a five selections to the Dean’s List. She is the daughter of David and Michele Beikirch.
