Bio

As a rookie on the 2013 squad, Michayla Berard added considerably to the success of the Gators as she played in 36 matches. She played in 121 sets and racked up 246 kills, which was second highest on the team. She bolstered the Gators’ success by averaging 2.03 kills per set, while adding 16 aces with a .965 serve percentage.  She added 78 digs with 62 total blocks. She had a team-best 40 block assists with 22 solo blocks and will be looked to this fall as well for consistent play.

She capped the 2013 ranked No. 9 in the Skyline Conference with her .181 hitting percentage, while ranking No. 13 overall in points (304) 2.62 per set and No. 5 in blocks (0.53). She was also ranked No. 12 overall with her 2.12 kills per set average.

In 2014, she helped the team garner the program’s third Skyline Conference Champion and NCAA bid after playing in 28 matches in 73 sets. She racked up 167 kills with a 2.29 kills per set average. She was sixth in the league in attack percentage with her .220 average, while standing ninth in blocks after adding 27 total blocks, good enough for a 0.37 blocks per set average.

She has already tallied 413 career kills in two seasons and is poised become the 13th player with 500 or more career kills at Sage. She has 89 career blocks and should move into the Top 10, becoming just the 10th player with 100 or more career blocks.

Berard came to Sage with an extensive list of scholastic accomplishments. A two-sport stand-out at Susquehanna Valley High School, she competed in both volleyball and track. A former team captain and MVP performer, she also earned all-division honors.

The daughter of Michael and Carrie Berard, she is an accomplished equestrian competitor as well. She is majoring in physical therapy at Sage.
