St. Joseph's too much for Gators
Patchogue, NY----The Eagles of St. Joseph's College hosted Sage College in men's tennis Skyline Conference action on Saturday. St. Joseph's tallied the 9-0 win to tally the team's first Skyline Conference victory of the season and improve to 1-4 overall and 1-0 in the league. The Eagles are the league's three-time defending champions and have won 22 consecutive league matches dating back to the start of the 2008 spring season. Sage drops to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
At first singles, Sage's 2010 Skyline Conference Women's Tennis First Team All-Star, sophomore Mackenzie Riley (Albany, NY/Albany) faced senior Erik Forsythe (Bay Shore, NY), the 2010 Skyline Conference Men's Tournament co-MVP. Forsythe tallied the 6-0, 6-0 win and teamed at first doubles with freshman Brian Hicks (Patchogue, NY) for the 8-0 win beating Riley and junior Joshua Hewitt (Albany, NY/Green Hope).
The Gators return to action on Sunday, March 27 hosting Yeshiva University in the home opener. First serve is set for 1 p.m. as the Gators host the Maccabees in a Skyline Conference match.
