FRANKLIN, Mass. – Russell Sage College picked up a pair of non-conference wins at Saturday's Dean tri-match, which also featured SUNY Purchase.
The Gators opened the tripleheader by sweeping the host Bulldogs 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-14) before securing a 3-2 victory vs. SUNY Purchase (25-27, 18-25, 25-15, 25-22, 16-14). RSC dropped the first two sets of the match against SUNY Purchase before winning the final three to complete the tri-match sweep.
Opposite Dylan Fox (Albany, NY/Colonie Central), the 2024 New England Volleyball Conference Rookie of the Year, continued his fantastic week tallying 29 kills across the two matches to top all RSC attackers. The sophomore added six blocks and 15 digs to the statsheet between the victories.
Freshman outside hitter John Lindheimer (Albany, NY/Colonie Central) registered 25 kills on Saturday, including 17 in the victory over SUNY Purchase, while freshman middle blocker Evan Devine (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) and junior outside hitter Sean Pingelski (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) each found themselves in double-digits in the kills column adding 13 apiece. Devine added 6 blocks, while Lindheimer added four.
Freshman setter Anthony Guetti (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) tallied 66 assists across the two non-conference victories to top the Gators.
"I'm hoping today is the turning point in our season," shared Head Coach Reid Hartl following the victories. "We have seen a lot of tough competition up to this point and I believe we've learned to win and compete as a team as we head into conference play."
RSC (5-15/0-1 NEVC) plays next on Friday at Endicott.
