Kelly paces Gators to impressive 12th place finish at Bard Invitational
Sage's rookie Bryan Kelly finished in 25th on Saturday to lead the Gator runners to the team's first team finish.
Red Hook, NY----Sage's men's cross country team competed on Saturday at the Bard College Invitational. Sage would post the first team finish in the young program's history. Head coach Jim Bowles' Gators posted a 12th place finish in a field of 19 teams. SUNY New Paltz captured the men's 8k race as they racked up a score of 57, while Sage took 12th with a score of 342.
For the second straight time, Sage was led on the course by freshman co-captain Bryan Kelly (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley Central) as he finished in 25th in 28:14. Fellow co-captain Jason Applegate (Schenectady, NY/Mohanasen) finished in 58th place in 30:55. Next to finish for Sage was sophomore Mesfin Solomon (Albany, NY/Albany) as he posted a time of 32:42 to take 69th. Senior John Dolny (Colonie, NY/Colonie Central) posted a 90th place finish in 38:47, while freshman Christopher Nerf (Latham, NY/Shaker) rounded out Sage's scorers with his time of 53:19 to take 100th place.
Sage will compete next week at the Southern Vermont College Invitational on September 25 with the men's race commencing at 11:45 a.m.
