Sage posts impressive win over St. Joseph's-Brooklyn in key Skyline Women's Tennis Match
Troy, NY – Sage's women's tennis team hosted the Bears of St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) on Friday afternoon in a Skyline Conference match-up. The Gators tallied a big 7-1 win to improve to 1-7 overall and 1-2 in the league. While SJC-Brooklyn drops to 1-2 overall and 0-2 in the league.
Sage team co-captain Katie Schultz (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park) added a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles as she beat freshman Denise Tretotola (Brooklyn, NY) and stands at 3-5 in singles play this season. Junior Alex Faas (Rensselaer, NY/Columbia) returned to the lineup after missing a few matches last week with an injury and then posted an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles with her partner, senior co-captain Melissa Estremera (Millbrook, NY/Millbrook).
Sage's sophomore Lindsey Tolman (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) added a win at No. 4 singles, beating senior Princess Babtiste (Atlanta, GA) 6-0, 6-0. She teamed at No. 3 doubles with sophomore Samantha Dibbell (Hunter, NY/Tannersville Central) for an 8-0 win. Dibbell and senior Amrita Singh (Schenectady, NY/Schenectady) added singles wins as well for Sage in the action. Rookie Emily Schultz (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park) also earned her first career singles win on Friday.
The Gators are back in action on September 30 hosting Utica College at Prospect Park in a non-conference match at 3:45 p.m.
