Sage finishes as runner-up at 2011 Skyline Conference Championship; Meade takes home second place finish
Farmingdale, NY---- The Sage Colleges men's golf team wrapped competition on Monday afternoon at the 2011 Skyline Conference Championship and took home the runner-up trophy in just their fourth season as a varsity program. Farmingdale State won the 2011 Skyline Championship with a two-day score of 610 on the par 70, 6,750 yard course, while Sage carded a 631 for the event on rounds of 309-322.
Farmingdale's Chris Arnold finished as the medalist with a 148 (75-73), while Sage's sophomore Zach Meade (Tupper Lake, NY/Tupper Lake) shot a 151 (76-75) to finish as the runner-up. A 2010 Skyline Conference All-Star Second Team performer last year, Meade finished the 2011 campaign earning first-team honors for his efforts this fall.
Gator junior Dan Schulz (Broadalbin, NY/Broadalbin Perth) finished with a 157 to tie for fifth and earns First-Team All-Skyline Conference honors as well. He had a 76 on day one and an 81 on Monday.
Sophomore Zach Sullivan (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Lake) finished with a 158 and took honor seventh place and second team honors on a 78-80, while sophomore Rich Christman (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) took home 13th place on a 166 (79-87). The final Gator performer at the 2011 championship was junior Ian Pingelski (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) and he shot a 175 (89-86) to finish tied for 15th place.
Farmingdale State garnered the 2011 Skyline Conference champion as well as the automatic bid to the 2012 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship.
