Sage women's harriers post ninth place showing at Highlander Invitational
Houghton, NY—The Sage Colleges' women's cross country squad travelled to the Houghton College Highland Invitational on Saturday. SUNY-Geneseo won the women's race with a score of 38, while the Gator women's team picked up a ninth place team finish in a field of 12 teams with a score of 213.
Sage's women's team had a strong day as a number of performers had significant runs. Rookie runner Kerry Flower (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) was 23rd in 26:44.2. Freshman runner Kristin McAlonen (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) took 36th place in 27:36.2 followed by senior co-captain Victoria Opalka (Forth Johnson, NY/Broadalbin-Perth) who was 45th in 28:04.2.
Senior co-captain Sagan Leggett (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane) posted a time of 28:28.2 to take 47th and sophomore Sophia Keravich (Barrington, NH/Oyster River) was next for Sage in 62nd place in 30:32.9.
Sage's men's team did not race on Saturday.
Next up Sage will be back in action on October 13 travelling to the New Jersey to compete in the Rowan University Interstate Invitational.
