Annandale-on-Hudson, NY- The Sage Colleges' men's volleyball team travelled to Bard College for their first United Volleyball Conference match. The Gators collected a 3-0 win over Bard (25-19, 25-14, 25-8) to earn the program's first league win as a new member of the conference. Sage is now 7-6 overall and 1-0 in the UVC, while Bard drops to 0-12 and 0-2 in the league.
Senior outside hitter Bailey Cecchi (Agawam, MA/Agawam) led the Gators with his 11 kills and a .474 attack percentage. He is about to record his 1,000th career kill as the senior tri-captain now has 996 kills after Saturday's match.
Sage's senior outside hitter Ryan Guyton (Lockport, NY/Lockport) connected for nine kills with a .643 attack percentage with five digs. He is right behind Cecchi in kills as he is third with 983 kills.
Senior libero Casey Fitzpatrick (Haverhill, MA/Haverhill) picked up six digs and continues to add to his active career record for digs at Sage, which has grown to 761 digs. Sophomore middle hitter Shane Wenz (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane) picked up seven kills on his .500 attack percentage with three digs and five total blocks. Sophomore outside hitter Jarod Martel (Albany, NY/Colonie Central) picked up six kills with two total blocks, while sophomore middle hitter Scott Sanders (Los Angeles, CA/Taft) added another impressive showing at the net with a 1.000 attack percentage to go with his five kills and two total blocks. Rookie setter Ryan Jennings (North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick) added 23 setting assists in the match with one digs.
Sage will face Elmira College in UVC match on Sunday, February 18 at Bard at 11:00 a.m.
