Sage suffers tough loss at Bard
Kingston, NY--- The Sage Colleges' women's lacrosse team traveled to Bard College for a non-conference match on Thursday evening. The host Raptors tallied an 18-4 win to improve to 3-0, while the loss puts Sage at 0-3.
Bard led 12-3 at the half en route to the program's first 3-0 start in program history.
Pacing the Gators on the night was junior captain Alexa Veeder (Earlton, NY/Academy of the Holy Names) with her two goals and an assist. She now leads the Gators with seven goals and eight points.
Sophomore Mary Kate Hayward (Queensbury, NY/Glens Falls) added one goal for the Gators and was called into service in goal after Sage's starter, junior goalie Courtney Reed (Mechanicville, NY/Mechanicville) was injured. Reed played the first half with eight saves and was replaced at the break with Hayward who had one save in the second half.
Bard's Joanna Regan and Brianna Bean each tallied five goals in the action, while Regan finished with four assists and nine points. Bean handed out three assists to finish with eight points on the night.
Sage will be back in action on March 17 when they travel to Elms College for a 1 p.m. non-conference match.
