Kaiser scores twice as Gators host SJC
Troy, NY-- The Sage Colleges' women's lacrosse team hosted the Golden Eagles of St. Joseph's College on Sunday afternoon in the team's regular-season finale. SJC posted a win to improve to 8-7 overall and 6-2 in the Skyline Conference. The loss puts Sage at 1-13 overall and 0-8 in the league.
SJC held an 8-0 lead at the break as rookie Lisa Terry (Manorville, NY/Eastport-South Manor) tallied three goals in the action. Sophomore Karalyn Tetelman (Holbrook, NY/East Islip) added a pair of first half goals with an assist for the Golden Eagles. Terry leads SJC on the season with her impressive 52 goals and 63 points.
The Golden Eagles led 9-0 before the Gators got a pair of goals as sophomore Alayna Kaiser (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa) added two goals, while rookie midfielder Lindsay Millett (Ravena, NY/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) added an assist. Kaiser finishes the season with 16 goals and 20 points, which was second on the 2012 team.
Sage's senior goalie Ginelle Butler (Malta, NY/Ballston Spa) made her fifth start of the season in goal for the Gators. She recorded four saves in the action, but suffers the loss as she is 0-5 in goal. SJC's sophomore goalie Colleen Fitzsimons (Commack, NY/Commack) earned the win after making seven saves and yielding two goals in the match.
Sage honored 2012 seniors Ginelle Butler and Erika Jackson (Cortland, NY/Dryden) prior to the action in conjunction with Senior Day.
Erika is a three-year letterwinner for the Gators and has helped anchor the team on defense. A team captain for the squad this season, she has played in 33 games for the Gators and collected 39 ground ball pickups with a pair of goals. She earned Sage Rookie of the Year honors in 2010 and is both a Dean's List student as well as a member of the English Honor Society at Sage. A member of SAAC and CAPES on campus, she is active on campus as a member of the Laurel Leaves and Sigma Tau Delta.
Ginelle is a four-year letterwinner for the Gators and is a 2012 team captain. The 2011 Gator of the Year recipient, she holds numerous Sage career records and is the program's all-time career goal scoring leader with 40 goals and holds the record for most career points as well with 47. Her 7 career assists is also tops at Sage, while she has also connected on a record 81 ground ball pickups with 56 draw controls, while causing 20 turnovers. Adding to her resume, she has also played in goal for the Gators. She is an applied biology and illustration major at Sage, as well as a member of SAAC, she is also a Dean's List student.
