Dolphins spoil Gators' Skyline Opener
Troy, NY-- The Sage Colleges' women's lacrosse team hosted the College of Mt. St. Vincent on Saturday afternoon in the squad's Skyline Conference opener at Renwyck Field. The Dolphins spoiled the team's league opener after they tallied a 17-4 win. CMSV improves to 2-4 overall and 1-1 in the league, while Sage falls to 1-5 overall and 0-1 on the conference.
The Dolphins held an 11-0 lead at the half before the Gators connected on four second half scores. For Sage sophomore Alayna Kaiser (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa) and senior Ginella Butler (Malta, NY/Ballston Spa) each connected on two goals. Butler continues to add to her career record scoring totals that now stand at 37 goals and four assists for 41 points.
CMSV's junior Nicole Flores (Bethpage, NY/Plainedge) led all players with her four points on one goal and three assists, while senior Julia Caro (Mamaroneck, NY/Mamaroneck) had three points on two goals and an assist. Freshman Kelly Fraser (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) also netted three points on two goals an assist.
In goal for CMSV, junior Michelle Miller (Chester, PA/Cardinal O'Hara) picked up the win with her three saves and two goals allowed in 43:57 in net. She shared in the win with freshman Kacie McCormack (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac) who also yielded two goals with a pair of saves in 16:03 played. Sage's sophomore keeper Mary Kate Hayward (Queensbury, NY/Glens Falls) made six saves in the action.
Sage will be back in action on March 28, when they travel to Mt. St. Mary College for a 7 p.m. Skyline Conference match. The College of Mt. St. Vincent will host Kean University in a 7 p.m. Skyline Conference contest.
