Kean proves to be too much for Sage
Troy, NY-- The Sage Colleges' women's lacrosse team hosted the Cougars of Kean University on Wednesday night in a Skyline Conference match at RPI's Renwyck Field. Kean tallied a 16-0 win to improve to 8-4 overall and 5-1 in the Skyline Conference, while riding a six-game win streak. Sage falls to 1-9 overall and 0-4 in the league.
Kean held a 10-0 lead at the intermission and cruised to a 16-0 win as junior Lyndsey Cannon (Delran, NJ/Delran) poured in five goals and assists on three others for eight points. Cannon leads Kean with her 78 points this season on 65 goals and 16 assists. Junior Stephanie Tocko (Toms River, NJ/Toms River East) chipped in with three goals and two assists for the Cougars, elevating her 2012 season totals to include 23 goals and 11 assists for 34 points.
Sage's senior goalie Ginelle Butler (Malta, NY/Ballston Spa) her first start in goal this season and finished with five saves in the action. Butler, who happens to be Sage's all-time leading scorer, has now played four games during her career in goal as well.
Kean's junior Jules Keeley (Ocean Township, NJ/Ocean Township) got the win after recording five saves in 48 plus minutes of work and shared the shutout with rookie Alyssa Staffin (South Brunswick, NJ/South Brunswick).
Sage returns to action on April 14 travelling to Ramapo College for a 1 p.m. Skyline Conference match, while Kean hosts Farmingdale State in a 1 p.m. Skyline contest also on Saturday.
