Gators Compete at the E8 Championships
PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Russell Sage College Outdoor Track and Field set four school records at the 2026 Empire 8 Conference Championships, hosted by Saint John Fisher on Friday and Saturday..
Senior Dylan Lawless (Slingerlands, NY/Guilderland/HVCC) bettered his program record in the decathlon, totaling 5654 points across the two days. The output, 730 points more than his previous best, was good for fourth out of nine competitors. He broke the school record inthe long jump with a mark of 6.86m on Friday. On Saturday, Lawless increased his school record in the pole vault by clearing 3.40m.
Freshman Christopher Whalen (Arlington, VT/Arlington Memorial) lowered his school standard in the 5,000m on Saturday. The rookie completed the distance in 15:36.31. He finished sixth in the 1,500m run with a time of 4:00.72..
Freshman Kishamar Glasgow (West Harrison, NY/Harrison) tossed the javelin 41.67m to take sixth place. Isaac Langer (Hudson, NY/Taconic Hills), a graduate student, finished 12th with a mark of 30.93m.
The Gators totaled 11 points to finish ninth out of nine competing institutions.
On the women's side, freshman Catherine Newkirk (Marathon, NY/Marathon) hurdled 100m in 17.26 to finish 12th.
In the hammer throw, junior Mercedez Cecelia-Storey (Pine Hill, NY/Onteora) and freshman Mia Paniccia (Rotterdam, NY/Mohonasen) both finished in the top-20. Cecelia-Storey was 19th with a mark of 32.12m, while Paniccia had a mark of 31.29m, which was good for 20th.
Senior Alexius Smith (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) cleared 1.49m in the high jump to place sixth, while freshman Savannah Smith (Newburgh, NY/Newburgh Free Academy) finished 20th in the discus with a toss of 25.59m.
RSC tied for eighth place with seven points.
Gator Bites with Papa John's: RSC has now broken ten outdoor school records this spring, seven by the men and three by the women…The Gators set 19 new program indoor records this winter, 15 by the men and four by the women…Both teams finished ninth at the 2026 Empire 8 Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships.
