SAGE CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS COMPETE AT 2019 ATLANTIC REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Canton, NY— The Sage Colleges' women's cross country squad travelled to the campus of St. Lawrence University to compete in the 2019 NCAA Division III Regional Championships. In the women's 5 k race, SUNY-Geneseo won the team title with a score of 68 points, RPI took home second with a score of 83 and Ithaca finished in third with a score of 102. The men's race was first with a field of 300 runners racing in the extreme conditions that featured bitter cold and snow on the course from earlier snow this week in Canton. The women ran the second race in conditions that were certainly less than ideal. Ithaca's sophomore runner Parley Hannan won the women's individual crown with a time of 21:01.2.

Sage's sophomore Kerry Flower (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) finished with an impressive time of 24:29.0 and finished in 75th place. Sophomore Kristin McAlonen (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) was the next Sage finisher in187th place in 26:52.3, just ahead of senior team captain Amanda Jones (West Sand Lake, NY/Columbia) who posted a time of 26:58.3 and placed 190th.

Rookie Evelyn Gile (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa) picked up 197th in 27:15.4, while junior Sophia Keravich (Barrington, NH/Oyster River) finished in 228th in 28:55.4. Freshman Morgan Feisthamel (Glenfield, NY/South Lewis) added a time of 30:49.9 and finished in 239th and sophomore Giannah French (Cherry Plain, NY/Berlin) took home 247th in 33:14.3.

The race marked the conclusion of the 2019 seasons for the Gators as they did not qualify for the 2019 NCAA Division III Championships.
