Cain Voted E8 Coach of the Year
ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College Men's Golf Head Coach Kevin Cain was voted the Empire 8 Conference Coach of the Year. Results of the voting, as conducted by his peers, were announced by the E8 office earlier today.
He guided the Gators to second place at the E8 Championships, the best finish at the event in program history.
RSC, which was just four strokes off the team lead heading into the final round of the four-day Tournament, had three golfers earn All-E8 honors.
Accolades are determined based upon finishes at the E8 Championships, held at Teugega Country Club in Rome, NY on Oct. 12-13 and April 19-20 at the Lebanon Country Club in Lebanon, PA.
Sophomore Luke Finlan (Albany, NY/LaSalle Inst.) and freshman Jackson Vatter (Selkirk, NY/Bethlehem Central) made the second team. Finlan, the medalist at the fall portion of the Tournament, tied for seventh, while Vatter tied for ninth.
Junior Ryan Arp (Greenville, NY/Greenville CAD) tied for 15th to earn a spot on the third-team. He also made the third-team as a rookie.
One member of each team was named that institution's representative on the 2025-26 Men's Golf Tomorrow's Leaders Team. This team honors a student-athlete who has emerged as a leader not only on the field of play, but in the classroom and in the community. In addition, they "compete with honor and integrity" and have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits as outstanding sportsmen. Freshman Nicholas Park (Fort Lee, NJ/Fort Lee) represented the Gators on the squad.
