Eight Score as Gators Roll Past Bobcats
Russell Sage College Men’s Soccer had eight different student-athletes score goals as they took down the visiting Bobcats of Paul Smith’s College 10-0 on Wednesday night.
ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College Men's Soccer had eight different student-athletes score goals as they took down the visiting Bobcats of Paul Smith's College 10-0 on Wednesday night.
The Gators (3-1) scored five of their ten goals in the first twenty minutes of action, and seven in the first half.
Senior midfielder Connor Swart (Walden, NY/Valley Central) got the scoring started with a goal in the first minute, before senior defender Zachary Bischoff (Panama City, FL/J.R. Arnold) found the back of the next just four minutes later.
Junior forward Dimitri Gogas (Merrick, NY/W.C. Mepham) had the next pair of scores, one of two Gators with two goals in the victory. Senior forward John Lewis Whalen (Arlington, VT/Arlington Memorial/Saint Rose) had two goals, both of which were also in the first 45 minutes.
Senior forward Joel Tshiamala (Banyoles, Girona, Spain/Sports EDU/Marietta) was the last to score in the first half, as he found the back of the net on a penalty kick, the first of the kind for RSC this fall.
The second half was filled with firsts for the Gators, as three different players recorded their first collegiate goals.
Freshman midfielder Mateusz Junior Cwalina (Shirley, NY/Longwood) got it started in the 48th minute, before junior midfielder Shea Stadler (Walden NY/Valley Central) took a corner kick from junior defender Christian Beres (Howell, MI/Hartland) off his head and past the Bobcat goalkeeper.
Freshman forward Jeronimo Moran (Mastic Beach, NY/William Floyd) scored just six minutes later, capping off the statement 10-0 victory for Russell Sage.
"I'm proud of how the boys approached the game tonight. I thought we dictated play and got exactly what we needed from tonight as we head into our first conference game this weekend," shared Head Coach Amir Pasic after the non-conference win.
RSC is back on the pitch on Saturday as they host SUNY Brockport for the start of conference play.
