The host Owls netted the final five points of the contest, all at the foul line, across the last 33 seconds to pick up the home victory.
RSC senior guard Layla Acosta (Haines City, FL/Haines City), announced as the Empire 8 Conference Player of the Week on Monday, topped all participants with 23 points on 9-of-20 shooting.

Trailing Westfield State by six, 56-50, at the start of the final period, the Gators used an 18-5 run spanning 6:15 to take a 70-69 lead with 44 seconds remaining. An Acosta steal led to a Smith layup to wrap up the run.
The Owls forced a trio of RSC turnovers from there, setting up the made free throws to win it.
Sophomore guard Caroline Galvani paced Westfield State (7-2) with 18 points on 7-of-14 shooting.
The Gators (5-3) are back in action on January 3, 2026 on the road at Vermont State: Castleton.
