The Gators (1-1-0) controlled the play across the warm afternoon, taking 22 of the first 30 shots of the contest. RSC finally broke through in the 65th minute when sophomore midfielder Eva Hirschoff (Castleton-On-Hudson, NY/Maple Hill) deposited a bouncing cross from senior forward Gianna Viscusi (Duanesburg, NY/Schalmont) into the net.
Freshman goalkeeper Isabella Clute (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) (Win, 1-0-0) and sophomore goalkeeper Hailey Blake (Schenectady, NY/Colonie Central) (0-0-0) combined for five saves to secure the clean sheet.
Freshman goalkeeper Isabella Dupret kept Nichols (0-3-0) in the game, stopping 11 RSC shots.
RSC, which held a 24-9 advantage on shots and 5-1 on corner kicks, is back on the pitch on Saturday afternoon at UMass-Boston.
