Gators Fall in Four-Set Battle with SUNY Oneonta

ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College Women's volleyball kicked off the Crosstown Classic on Friday with a tight four-set battle with SUNY Oneonta.
The Gators (3-4) took the first set from the visiting Red Dragons before ultimately falling 3-1 (25-22, 20-25, 23-25, 19-25).
Senior middle hitter Aniyah Kelley (Newcastle, DE/William Penn) led all Gators with 13 kills and hit to a 0.231 percentage.
Senior outside hitter Ashleigh Gerkman (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane) was right behind her with 11 successful attacks, while sophomore outside hitter Mia Merino (Red Hook, NY/Red Hook) and junior setter Cassidy Weiher (Aurora, CO/Cherokee Trail/Southern Maine) tallied nine kills apiece.
SUNY Oneonta (8-1) was led by Colleen McCabe and Keira Welsh, who each registered ten kills.
Looking ahead, the Gators return to the court tomorrow as they host SUNY Oswego and Bethany in the final day of the Crosstown Classic.
