Gators Split Tri-Match on Saturday
Russell Sage College Women's Volleyball split a pair of matches at the SUNY New Paltz Invitational on Saturday.

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – Russell Sage College Women's Volleyball split a pair of matches at the SUNY New Paltz Invitational on Saturday.
The Gators fell to the host Hawks 3-2, before defeating Mount Saint Mary 3-1.
In the opener, senior middle hitter Aniyah Kelley (Newcastle, DE/William Penn) led the way with 12 kills, while sophomore outside hitter Mia Merino (Red Hook, NY/Red Hook) and senior outside hitter Ashleigh Gerkman (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane) registered nine and eight kills respectively.
Freshman setter Emma Curry (Goodyear, AZ/Estrella Foothills) tallied 15 digs, and junior defensive specialist Madeline Mott (Fultonville, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) had 13.
Lexi Stragalas led the offensive effort for New Paltz with 13 kills.
In the nightcap, the Gators took the first two sets, before splitting the next two to finish off the victory.
Kelley continued her strong day with another 15 kills, as Gerkman was in double-digits as well with ten kills.
Mott and Gerkman each contributed four aces in the victory, while Curry topped all Gators again with 24 digs.
Junior setter Cassidy Weiher (Aurora, CO/Cherokee Trail/Southern Maine) was a force on the offense all day, tallying a total of 36 assists across the two matches.
"We had a great match against NP where we learned a lot about how to play with a faster paced team," shared Head Coach Rosilyn Cummings. "MSMC was a great test of our discipline and we are very much looking forward to next weekend to showcase what we've learned so far this season."
Looking ahead, RSC (3-3) has its home opener on Friday afternoon against SUNY Oneonta.
