Gators Edged 3-2 at Castleton

Freshman outside hitter Paige Kemmer (Voorheesville, NY/Clayton A. Bouton) paced the Gators, which fell by scores of 25-21, 22-25, 14-25,25-23, 11-15, with 17 kills on .308 hitting. The output was a career high for the rookie.
Senior middle hitter Aniyah Kelley (Newcastle, DE/William Penn) added 10 kills and three total blocks, while senior setter Mia Wood (Scotia, NY/Scotia-Glenville) handed out 24 assists and aced a pair of serves.
The Gators registered seven total blocks, 12 aces, and held the Spartans (10-10) to .095 hitting or worse in three of the five sets.
Freshman libero Emma Curry (Goodyear, AZ/Estrella Foothills) led all participants with 33 digs.
Junior middle hitter Madison Sheehan topped Castleton with 20 kills on .462 hitting. Sophomore setter Alondra Rojas recorded a double-double of 40 assists and 12 digs for the victors.
Looking ahead, RSC (8-9) is back on the court on Friday at home against Houghton.
Gator Bites with Papa John's: RSC made its first appearance in the Empire 8 Conference Championship Tournament last fall…Seven players return this season, including: Kelley and senior outside hitter Ashleigh Gerkman (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane)…Head Coach Rosilyn Cummings, now in her third season at the helm of the Gators, added nine newcomers to this year's squad…Gerkman was selected the Empire 8 Conference Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, August 31.
