Gators Shut Out Alfred 9-0

Eight different Gators got on the scoresheet in the victory on "Friends and Family Weekend", with three: senior midfielder Mackenzie Dahl (Malta, NY/Ballston Spa/Hartwick), freshman midfielder Catherine Newkirk (Marathon, NY/Marathon), and sophomore forward Skyler Van Wormer (Guilderland, NY/Guilderland/SUNY Oneonta) each scoring a pair of goals.
Sophomore defender Kari Gage (Gansevoort, NY/South Glens Falls) and junior midfielder Mackenna Huestis (Gansevoort, NY/South Glens Falls) registered two assists apiece, while the RSC defense did not allow any shots for the visiting Saxons (0-7/0-2 E8) in front of sophomore goalkeeper Olivia Brand (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) (Win, 4-3), and junior goalkeeper Mercedez Cecelia-Storey (Pine Hill, NY/Onteora).
"We are so incredibly proud of the great team play this afternoon.," said Head Coach Carissa Warren. "We really moved the ball well and saw some beautiful sequences. We were also able to honor our family and friends which was very special. I am looking forward to a busy week of games next week and seeing what we can do!"
RSC (4-3/2-1 E8), in the midst of a stretch of three-straight home contests, hosts Vermont State: Castleton on Tuesday.
Gator Bites with Papa John's: The fall marks the second with Carissa Warren leading the Gators…She arrived to Albany from two-time defending Empire 8 Conference Champion Hartwick…RSC goalkeepers were busy last fall, leading the NCAA Division III with 15.81 saves per-game…On an individual level, Brand totaled 146 saves across ten games played at goalie,14.60 per-game, good for third in the country…Junior midfielder Cheyanne Zobel (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa), who opened the autumn with a program career record 17 assists, and Brand highlight the nine returning Gators…Zobel, a two-time third-team All-Empire 8 Conference selection, commenced the campaign ranked fifth among RSC players with 35 career points…Warren added six new players to this year's squad...Van Wormer was selected the Empire 8 Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, September 14…The forward scored three goals in a 2-0 week...Newkirk tallied four goals and an assist in the 2-0 week.
