ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College Field Hockey hosted VTSU Castleton on Tuesday night as they celebrated their Umpire Appreciation Game.
The Gators (4-4) fell 5-2 to the visiting Spartans.
Freshman midfielder Catherine Newkirk (Marathon, NY/Marathon), the reigning Empire 8 Conference Offensive Player of the Week, got RSC on the board in the third quarter with an impressive goal off of an assist from junior midfielder Cheyanne Zobel (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa), who assisted both of the Gator goals Tuesday evening.
Senior midfielder Mackenzie Dahl (Malta, NY/Ballston Spa/Hartwick) also found the back of the cage for Russell Sage five minutes into the final period.
VTSU Castleton (3-5) had five different players score goals in the victory.
Looking ahead, RSC travels to Saint Joseph's for a non conference matchup with the Blue Jays on Thursday.
