Brand and Zobel Make the 2026 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Field Hockey Team.
ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College Field Hockey had two student-athletes: junior midfielder Cheyanne Zobel (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) and sophomore goalkeeper Olivia Brand (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls), make the 2026 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Field Hockey Team.
Zobel also made the team as a sophomore.
The 2026 Academic All-District® Field Hockey Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. The quartet now advance to the to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Academic All-America® honorees will be announced July 7.
Gator Bites with Papa John's: The fall marked the second with Head Coach Carissa Warren leading the Gators…She arrived to Albany from two-time defending Empire 8 Conference Champion Hartwick…RSC closed the fall by defeating Utica for the first time in program history, a 3-2 home win on October 29…Brand and Zobel , who finished the autumn with a program career record 22 assists, and Brand highlight the nine returning Gators…Zobel, now a three-time third-team All-E8 selection, wrapped up the campaign ranked fourth among RSC players with 44 career points…Warren added six new players to this year's squad…Sophomore Skyler Van Wormer (Guilderland, NY/Guilderland/SUNY Oneonta) was selected the Conference's Offensive Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, September 14…The forward scored three goals in a 2-0 week...Freshman midfielder Catherine Newkirk (Marathon, NY/Marathon) was chosen the E8 Offensive Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, September 28...The rookie tallied four goals and an assist in a 2-0 week…Van Wormer tied for sixth in the E8 with 11 goals, while Newkirk tied for eighth with nine…Zobel topped the Gators with five assists, good for tied for seventh in the Conference…Brand finished her fall second in the E8 with 161 saves, 9.47 per-game…She closed the autumn with a program career record 11.37 saves per-game and sat third among Gator goalkeepers with 307 career stops and a .716 career save percentage…The co-captain, who boasts two of the top-three single-season marks for saves in a season by an RSC goalkeeper, has made double-digit stops 20 times in her career, ten in each season.
