UTICA, N.Y. – Host Utica bottled up Russell Sage College Men's Lacrosse early to secure an 18-4 Empire 8 Conference victory on Wednesday afternoon.
Utica (5-7/4-2 E8), now winners of four in-a-row, led 12-0 at the start of the fourth quarter of its home triumph.
Midfielder Ryan Blake (Rensselaer, NY/Columbia/Salisbury) topped the Gators, which were out-shot by a 72-19 margin, with a goal and an assist. The graduate student won six face-offs and scooped a team-high four groundballs.
Sophomore goalkeeper Jordon Hankel (Cold Spring, NY/Haldane) (Loss, 3-6) made 26 saves this afternoon. The program's career saves leader, now with 405 stops, leads the E8 in saves per-game.
Senior attacker Mame Diba (New York, NY/Haldane), freshman midfielder Dylan Baisley (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) and sophomore midfielder Doan Sangare (New York, NY/Frederick Douglass Academy) also scored for RSC.
14 Pioneers registered at least one point in the home victory.
RSC (3-6/1-5 E8) plays at SUNY Brockport on Saturday.
