RSC Softball Clinches Sixth-Straight E8 Tournament Berth

GENESEO, N.Y. – Host SUNY Geneseo capitalized upon a Russell Sage College error to sweep Monday's Empire 8 Conference Softball doubleheader in walk-off fashion.
SUNY Geneseo (26-9/17-3 E8), now on a nine-game winning streak, took the opener 6-2 and won the nightcap 7-6 in eight innings.
Despite the setbacks, based upon results around the Conference, RSC secured a spot in the E8 Championship Tournament for the sixth-straight year.
The Knights, which moved to 12-0 at home, led 5-0 after two innings to take the opener.
Junior Annalise Tyler (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) went 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI double to pace RSC. The designated player went 4-for-9 with a run scored and an RBI across the twin bill.
In the second game, the Gators (16-18/9-9 E8) overcame an early 3-0 deficit to take a 6-4 lead through five and a half innings. RSC rallied for four runs in the fifth to turn the tide.
Junior outfielder Bella Julian (Cicero, NY/Cicero North-Syracuse) had the big hit of the rally, plating a pair with a two-out single..
The Knights knotted the contest in the bottom of the seventh via a wild pitch, before scoring the winning run via an RSC miscue in the eighth. Both of the tallies were unearned.
Looking ahead, the Gators are slated to play an E8 doubleheader tomorrow afternoon at Utica.
