RSC Baseball Splits Doubleheader to Open Spring Break Trip
Russell Sage College baseball opened their Spring Break Trip in Florida on Sunday and split a doubleheader with Thomas and RIT.

AUBURNDALE, Fla. – Russell Sage College baseball opened their Spring Break Trip in Florida on Sunday and split a doubleheader with Thomas and RIT.
In the opener against Thomas, the Gators came out on top 11-9 to start their time in the sunshine state.
RSC (2-1) got rolling early with four runs in the first inning, highlighted by a RBI triple by junior outfielder Connor Griffin (Jersey Shore, PA/Jersey Shore/Lock Haven).
The Gators led 5-3 heading into the six inning, where freshman Nick Irizarry (South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield) ripped a two-run single into right field, extending the RSC lead to seven.
Thomas (0-4) battled back in the top of the eighth inning with a six spot, before RSC tacked on three in the bottom half to give the Gators an 11-9 advantage and secure the win.
Senior Aidan Green (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro/Onondaga CC) got the start for Coach Marsh's squad, punching out three across five innings of three-run ball. Junior Tyler Murray (East Greenbush, NY/Columbia/HVCC) picked up his first win in Gator green, throwing the final 1.1 innings without allowing a run.
In game two, RIT (5-5) scattered five runs across the first two innings to take an early advantage that they never squandered, coming out on top 14-1 in the nightcap.
Irizarry led the way for RSC, tacking on another hit and scoring a run off of a single by junior infielder Jayden Kennedy (East Patchogue, NY/Patchogue Medford/HVCC).
RSC is back in action on Monday as they battle with the University of Saint Joseph's.
