MILTON, Mass. – Russell Sage College Men's Volleyball concluded its regular season with a pair of non-conference victories in a tri-match at Curry.
After beginning the day by defeating Fisher 3-1, the Gators (12-16/4-3 NEVC), heading to the New England Volleyball Conference Championship Tournament for the third-straight spring, beat the host Colonels 3-2.
RSC hit .330 as a team in the opener, headlined by 17 kills on .400 hitting from opposite Wylkins Occelin (Brooklyn, NY/John Dewey), a graduate student, and 12 kills on a game-high .800 hitting percentage by sophomore middle blocker Evan Devine (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa).
Senior middle hitter Marcus Gentile (Delmar, NY/Bethlehem Central) tallied seven kills on .667 hitting, while sophomore setter Anthony Guetti (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa), who started the tri-match ranked third in the Conference in assists per-set, assisted his teammates 35 times in the victory.
In game two, Devine continued his strong day with a .529 hitting percentage and eleven kills. Across the two matches, the sophomore compiled six total blocks.
Junior opposite Dylan Fox (Albany, NY/Colonie Central), who entered the day fifth in the NEVC with 277 kills, led all RSC attackers in kills with 14, while sophomore outside hitter John Lindheimer (Albany, NY/Colonie Central) added ten.
Guetti added another 47 assists as the Gators completed their regular season winning six of their final seven matches.
RSC will play at SUNY Potsdam in the Quarterfinals of the New England Volleyball Conference Championship Tournament on Wednesday.
